Work Trousers Sizes Explained: Waist and Leg Length
In short
Work trousers are not ordered by S, M, L but by waist size (in centimetres or inches) and leg length. This is different from T-shirts and hoodies – make sure you ask your team for both measurements when collecting sizes. The size charts of the respective models help you match the right measurements.
How are work trousers sizes specified?
Unlike tops, work trousers are specified with two measurements: waist size and leg length. The waist is given in centimetres or inches (waist measurement), and the leg length likewise. For example: W32/L32 means a waist of 32 inches and a leg length of 32 inches – which corresponds to a waist of about 81 cm. This system is standard in workwear and gives you a more precise fit than S/M/L.
How do I measure waist and leg length correctly?
For the waist, measure the circumference directly at the waistline or slightly below (depending on your preferred trouser position) with a tape measure. Halve this value for the half waist or use the circumference directly for the size chart. For the leg length, measure from the crotch (inseam) to the desired length at the ankle. Some manufacturers give leg lengths in standardised values (short, regular, long); others use the exact number of centimetres. Check the measurement chart of the respective model.
The work trousers in the range
The standard model is the Result Workguard RT308 “Action Trousers” in Black, Bottle Green, Grey and Navy – a robust pair of work trousers with reinforced knee areas. The premium model is the James & Nicholson JN832 “Workwear Pants -STRONG-” in various colour combinations such as Black/Carbon or Navy/Navy; the model offers particularly high durability for intensive use. The company logo is printed at the standard position on the leg.
Collecting work trousers sizes in your team
When asking your team, explicitly ask for waist and leg length – not for S/M/L, because that leads to misunderstandings. Send a simple template: name, waist (inches or cm), leg length (inches or cm). Anyone who does not know their measurements can check what is printed on a pair of trousers that currently fits well – for most people that is the quickest way. Also mention whether the model is cut close to the body or with more room, so colleagues can choose accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I combine work trousers with T-shirts in one order?
Yes. All items in an enquiry – whether trousers, shirts or jackets – count together for the tier. This makes it sensible to bundle trousers and tops in one enquiry.
What if someone has an unusual waist size or leg length?
The models cover a wide range of measurements. For very unusual sizes it is worth looking at the additional catalogue with 58 more models – just ask. We will then check what fits best.
Where does the logo sit on work trousers?
On work trousers the company logo is printed at the standard position on the leg. Other positions or designs can in principle be discussed – raise this when you enquire.
