Chest logo on team clothing – which size is right?

A common guideline for the chest logo: 8–12 cm wide on the left side of the chest. On polo shirts and jackets, smaller logos of 8–10 cm tend to look good. On T-shirts the logo can be somewhat larger. For embroidery, the usual size is 9–10 cm wide.
Standard sizes for the chest logo
The left chest is the classic position for the company logo on team clothing. As a rule of thumb, a width of about 8–12 cm applies. That roughly corresponds to the area visible on an A6 sheet laid on the garment. Too small and the logo cannot be recognised from a distance; too big and it looks out of proportion.
Differences by garment
On polo shirts, a logo between 8 and 10 cm best suits the piqué structure of the fabric. On T-shirts it can be somewhat larger – up to 12 cm works well. On softshell jackets, 10–12 cm is ideal, as the material is sturdier. Caps and beanies have a much smaller print area; 5–8 cm is the usual size there.
Print or embroidery – what changes the size?
Because of their texture, embroideries look somewhat more voluminous than prints. An embroidered logo of 10 cm looks visually larger than the same logo printed at 10 cm. With embroidery, it should also be noted that very fine details under 1 mm and thin fonts can lose legibility. Printing can reproduce finer details, even at smaller logo sizes.

Can the chest logo also be placed on the right side?
Technically that is possible, but the left chest is the standard position and is chosen by most teams. It matches what people expect when shaking hands and is the spot the eye falls on first. Deviations can be discussed on request.
What happens if my logo is very wide?
Wide logos – for example a company name on a single line – can be stretched to 12–15 cm, but then look very dominant on the chest. A good alternative is to bring the logo into a more compact format for the chest position and place the full layout on the back.
